News From Your ¸£ÀûÔÚÏßÊÓƵ 25 October 2024

Welcome to the Term 4 ¸£ÀûÔÚÏßÊÓƵ Newsletter.

During the last week of Term 3 we celebrated a very gifted Year 13 student, Joey Schuster, by watching his award winning short film, TOA.

The students enjoyed it so much we had a second viewing.

The third annual Alofa Awards, which recognises young Pasifika film makers, awarded Joey for TOA - Best Director.

We had a great Term 3 in the St ¸£ÀûÔÚÏßÊÓƵ's library, with a year to date book issuing tally of 3,713 books. Some of our best achievements are summarised below:

The top readers in each year group, at the end of Term 3 were:

  • Year 7 - Samuel Ikahihifo borrowed 54 books
  • Year 8 - Finau Moala borrowed 53 books
  • Year 9 - Christian Fa'aui borrowed 86 books
  • Year 10 - Marseille Niuula borrowed 49 books

The most popular three books were:

  • Stephen Curry by David Riley
  • Ghost Boys by Jewell Parker Rhodes
  • The Getaway by Jeff Kinney

Since the beginning of the year, we have 223 new books in the library, including all purchases and donations, all available for the students to borrow in Term 4. New purchases include the novels A Canoe before the Wind by Vitale Lafaele and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbec, Peek-A-Boo Basic Techniques and Boxing Combinations and additions to the Dragon Ball Z series of graphic novels and Jujitsu Kaisen series.

As written by David Goggins, in his book Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind available in the library, 'Don’t focus on what you think you deserve. Take aim on what you are willing to earn!'
